Brooklyn win and take 3 pts home on the road
LOWELL, MA - Brooklyn Italians SC earned a hard fought 3 pts against Greater Lowell United FC in NPSL League Action on Saturday night.
The XI who started for Brooklyn were: Wilkinson, Grundei, Rodriguez, Justicino, Williams, J. Uy, Odell, Bezecourt, Joachim (c), Zuniga & Cosovic. Subs: Mancini, Galimi, Centemero, Ojeda, C. Uy, Khatchaturian, Hauer.
The first chance for Brooklyn came when Vincent Bezecourt looked to catch Lowell's keeper off guard in the 7th minute of play. The game grew physical with each passing minute and in the 15th minute Daniel Grundei was given a yellow card for an agressive foul. 5 minutes later Brooklyn were award a penalty. Kareem Joachim stepped up and tucked the ball away in the bottom right corner to give Brooklyn the lead.
Brooklyn Keeper Wilkinson protected Brooklyn's lead when he made a one handed save off of a headed effort from Lowell. Brooklyn's opportunities continued as midfielder maestro Harry Odell worked with Diego Zuniga to feed through balls to Kareem Joachim.
The next serious opportunity came in the 69th minute when Joachim lifted the ball over the keeper. The effort looked like it would sneak in until Lowell's center back cleared the ball away. At the end of 90 minutes plus extra time Brooklyn pulled away with the 3 points to continue their good form in the league. Next Saturday Brooklyn is on the road once again to face the Rhode Island Reds.
