UNIVERSITY OF S. MAINE – The team was on the road yet again in what has become a very tough schedule. The double-header vs. Seacoast Mariners and Seacoast Phantoms has proven to be a difficult pair of fixtures in the past.

The starting XI vs. Seacoast Mariners were: Wilkinson, Grundei, Morgan, Guzman, Galimi, Williams, Hererra ©, Zuniga, Barriga, Bezecourt, Hauer. Brooklyn started the match off with the upper hand as Diego Zuniga and Jiro Barriga had a few early chances only to be stopped by the Mariners’ keeper. The game became very physical and as a result a lot of fouls were given up on both sides. The Mariners broke the deadlock in the 42’ catching the Brooklyn backline off guard. Brooklyn keeper Wilkinson made a great save but another Mariners striker finished the rebound. Brooklyn leveled the match in the 59’ when Diego Zuniga with surgeon like precision slotted the ball in the corner of the net and away from the Mariners’ keeper. In the 79’ minute the Mariners found the net after a bit of confusion in the box. The game grew more tense and physical but the match official had great control of the game. At the end of 90’ the Mariners came out on top in a very physical match up.

The starting XI vs. Seacoast Phantoms were: Bernardi, Grundei, Morgan, Galimi, Guzman, Hererra ©, Williams, Zuniga, Bezecourt, Hauer & Doumbia. The game started off excellently for Brooklyn as Lukas Hauer put the ball from Diego Zuniga in the back of the net in the 5’. In the 35’ Seacoast Phantoms equalized off a corner kick that was headed directly into Brooklyn’s net. In the 56’ Seacoast buried the ball once again to take a 2-1 lead. Vincent Bezecourt kept Seacoast on their toes as all his attempts nearly saw Brooklyn equalize. In the 73’ the Frenchman Bezecourt stepped up and with a Mona Lisa of a beauty free kick sent the ball into the top corner. In the 88’ Khatchaturian, a substitute in the match, became Brooklyn’s white knight and won Brooklyn the game with a masterful shot. Brooklyn ended the weekend on a high with a win vs. the first place team.

The tough part of the schedule is now behind us but that does not mean the rest of the season will be a breeze! The boys are up for the challenge. Our next match is vs. NYAC on Saturday, June 13th at John Dewey High School at 5:00PM.
